The Prisoner's Constraint
An experimental typographic poster exploring the potential of a rule called The Prisoner's Constraint which forbids the use of letters with ascenders or descenders while writing. The rule is applied to Keats' poem Ode on a Grecian Urn. More Info
A custom version of Caslon was created in order to set lines of type closer together, which highlights the rule's potential. Caslon would have been a popular printing font at the time of Keats' writing, hence the layout, ink and paper choices were inspired by William Caslon's type specimen.
