The Encyclopiedia
The Encyclopiedia [sic] is a big book about pie in all its glorious forms. The book explores various different aspects of pie such as what constitutes being a pie, who invented the pie, the rise and fall of pie. It also features Pie Heroes who are recognised for their services to pie. I chose to explore pie knowing it is a subject close to many peoples hearts. The cover of the book features a laser-cut pie! The book measures 245mm x 195mm, 128 pages, printed on 130gsm Imagine paper by Robert Horne with a 300gsm poptone wrap-around cover. The book gave me the chance to learn about, understand and realise the challenges inherant in book production during a second year typography & print module. All the copy, illustrations and photography were produced by myself (unless otherwise stated in the book) before I set a challenging but commercially realistic design timeframe of 15 days, suggested to me during a work placement.
